BATH — On Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., Patten Free Library, 33 Summer St., will host Brian Cullen for an evening of acoustic classical guitar music. Cullen will perform Brazilian, Spanish and contemporary selections.
The program will feature some of the best known and most loved classical guitar pieces, including Spanish folk songs, “Cavatina” (“Deerhunter Theme”), “Recuerdos de la Alhambra,” “Capricho Arabe” from Tarrega, variations on “The Magic Flute” (Mozart), “Preludes and Chorus” of the Brazilian composer Villa Lobos, instrumental solos of The Beatles, and the hit “Classical Gas.”
A native of South Africa, Cullen has been playing and teaching classical guitar for 30 years and performed extensively in South Africa, England and the U.S. He founded of the Durban Classical Guitar Society in South Africa.
Cullen currently lives in Brunswick. He is donating his fee for this performance to the Brunswick Coastal Rotary to benefit ongoing work in South Africa.
