BRUNSWICK — A trio of Bowdoin College football players have been recognized in All- Conference honors announced by the NESCAC recently.
Junior linebacker Griffin Cardew led the way as a First Team selection. Junior tailback Zach Donnarumma and sophomore defensive lineman Clarence Johnson were tabbed as Second Team choices.
Cardew is Bowdoin’s first defender to collect First Team honors since Laurence Duggan in 2009. The league’s leading tackler with 97 on the year, he had 6.5 tackles for losses, two sacks, a fumble recovery, a forced fumble and an interception this fall.
Despite missing the first two games due to illness, Donnarumma posted an outstanding year that saw him finish fourth in the league in rushing with 556 yards and four scores. Through three seasons, his 1,581 rushing yards rank eighth in program history.
Johnson enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that saw him anchor the Bowdoin defensive line in 2011. One of just eight sophomores in the conference to earn All-Conference recognition, Johnson racked up 25 tackles, including 13 solo stops, four tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.
