Investigators found several installation errors in an oilto gas heating conversion that sent a Woodside Lane man to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning earlier this week, according to town emergency officials.
“There were a number of violations noted in installation of the natural gas unit,” said Deputy Fire Chief Paul Conley.
The conversion was not performed by one of the utility companies, but instead by a privately owned business.
Conley declined to release the name of the company that performed the conversion before the investigators’ report is released next week.
However, the company “is not local, and it’s not one of the more reputable ones out there,” he said.
Investigators from the state Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as the Maine Fuel Board, were called to the home of Ronald and Sharon Pelton last Nov. 17 after Ronald Pelton was overcome by a gas leak.
He was admitted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he remained in satisfactory condition as of Wednesday.
