WEST BATH
A group of deer crossing Route 1 Thursday triggered a two-vehicle crash that left one vehicle totaled but spared the occupants from injury.
The crash was reported at 4:47 p.m. Thursday. Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department Lt. Calvin Temple said two vehicles were traveling north on Route 1, apparently in the passing lane, when approximately four deer crossed the road.
A 2007 Toyota Highlander driven by Ian Drewette, 69, of Damariscotta, was slowing down; a 2003 Toyota Celica behind him, driven by Tasha Sanders of West Bath, struck his vehicle then drove off the road.
Temple said the Celica driven by Sanders was totaled while Drewette’s Toyota Highlander sustained approximately $500 in damage.
Drewette had a passenger, Temple said, but no one was injured in the crash.
