LEWISTON — A Brunswick resident who is a judge presiding over a murder trial suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning only a block from the Androscoggin County Courthouse, authorities said.
MaryGay Kennedy later was released from Central Maine Medical Center today, a hospital spokeswoman said. Kennedy had complained of neck pain, police said.
Police said Kennedy, of Brunswick, was driving northbound in her 2008 Lexus sedan on Main Street near Drummond Street shortly before 8:30 a.m. when a 2004 Nissan Sentra sedan driven by Scott Lee of Lewiston crossed the center line and struck Kennedy’s car head-on. Kennedy’s car then struck a parked car, police said.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
