A photograph of a Westbrook police officer found in the home of a man charged in connection with the Kennebunk prostitution case has no connection with the investigation, police said.

Westbrook Public Safety Chief Michael Pardue said that on Nov. 2, the Westbrook Police Department became aware that a photograph of an unnamed, uniformed Westbrook police officer was included in the items seized from the home of Mark Strong Sr., 57, of Kennebunk. Strong and Zumba instructor Alexis Wright face charges involving a prostitution operation at Wright’s Kennebunk studio.

Pardue said that when Westbrook police learned that a photo of one of the department’s officers was seized, the department began an internal investigation on the matter. He said the Westbrook police have been told by both the Maine State Police and the Kennebunk police that the photograph has “absolutely no relevance to the ongoing Kennebunk case, nor does it have relevancy to any police investigation.”

Pardue explained that Strong’s son took the photo in question, which is of the officer in uniform at his graduation from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, when the Westbrook officer graduated several years ago.

Pardue said the officer in the photograph had been a personal friend of Strong’s son from their days together in high school “many years ago.”
