Church taking ?pie orders

The North Pownal United Methodist Church is taking orders for Thanksgiving pies. Pies are $10 for chocolate and custard, $12 for apple, blueberry, cherry, lemon meringue and pumpkin. Mincemeat and pecan are $14.

Pies will be ready for pickup Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the North Pownal United Methodist Church. For more information and to order your pies, call Nancy at 688-4481.

Bradbury Mountain Arts hosting concert

Bradbury Mountain Arts is hosting the “Keep Me Warm” concert and arts series in the historic Mallett Hall, 429 Hallowell Road in Pownal. The first is Saturday, Nov. 10, featuring Kevin Midgley and friends as well as Pejepscot Station. In the gallery, there will be a quilt show and turned wood by Peter Asselyn.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with an admission cost of $10 and the concert will start at 7:30 p.m. There will be raffles, refreshments and door prizes. All proceeds will be donated to the Keep Pownal Warm fuel assistance fund that is distributed through Freeport Community Services.

North Pownal Church Food Pantry

The North Pownal United Methodist Church, Lawrence Road, has new hours for distributing food from its pantry. It is now every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m- noon. The food pantry usually receives different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.

Meeting schedule

Pownal selectmen have scheduled meetings for Nov. 12 and 26 and Dec. 10 and 17. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. at the DeWitt Room.

Historical society plans meeting

The Pownal Scenic and Historical Society encourages residents to attend its annual meeting of the on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m., in the DeWitt Room at Mallett Hall, and support the society as it looks to the future. Major acquisitions to the society will be on display and their provenance discussed. Pownal Scenic and Historical Society supported projects for 2012 will be reviewed, and a budget for 2013 will be adopted.
