Kennebunk Inn attracts more pot-pie attention
The Kennebunk Inn’s Lobster Pot Pie will be featured on a “Pot Pie Paradise” episode of the Travel Channel’s “Food Paradise” show at 10 p.m. Nov. 7.
This past summer, a Travel Channel crew shot owners Brian and Shanna O’Hea making the lobster pot pie in the Academe kitchen.
This is the second time the Travel Channel has visited the inn and its restaurant, Academe. Previously, celebrity chef Cat Cora featured the pot pie on an episode of the Food Network show “The Best Thing I Ever Ate.”

Series of classes explores healthy foods at holidays
During November, Five Seasons Cooking School will host a series of classes called “Staying Healthy Through the Holiday Season.”
The first class features seasonal immune-boosting soups, and takes place on Thursday. This will be followed on Nov. 8 by high-powered veggies and seaweeds. On Nov. 15, the final class covers healthy holiday entrees.
All the food prepared in the classes will be vegan and, when possible, organic. The classes cost $40 each, or $105 for all three. All classes take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the school, 87 Saint Lawrence St. Call 233-6846 to register.
Chamber event to feature Allagash Brewing founder
This month’s Eggs & Issues breakfast hosted by the Portland Community Chamber features Rod Tod, founder of Allagash Brewing Co. The talk and networking event takes place from 7 to 9 a.m. Thursday at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland.
Tod founded the Belgian-style brewery in 1995. This year, the company expects to brew about 50,000 barrels of beer.

Group seeks volunteers to host visiting students

Vote for president via special cookie purchase
Sandwich Empire will be selling the favorite cookies of Michelle Obama and Ann Romney from now until Election Day, and will post the results of sales daily at the shop.
Earlier this month, the two cookie recipes went head to head in the traditional Family Circle magazine Presidential Cookie Contest. Obama’s cookies won by the smallest margin ever in the bake-off’s history.
Obama’s recipe uses chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and mint chocolate chips, while Romney’s uses M&Ms and oatmeal in addition to chocolate chips.
Sandwich Empire is located at 21 County Road, and is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
