BRUNSWICK — Curtis Memorial Library has launched its Annual Book Fund Drive with a goal of raising $93,000 to purchase new books and materials.
“Last year, thanks to the generosity of many, we were able to raise $88,000 and add over 13,000 new books and materials to the library’s collection for all ages and interests,” said library Director Elisabeth Doucett. “The Annual Book Fund is the primary way we raise funds to ensure that Curtis’ offerings are diverse, topical and meet the changing needs of our wide range of patrons throughout the Greater Brunswick community.”
The towns of Brunswick and Harpswell support library operations, but many individuals and businesses who value the library’s role in the community support the Annual Book Fund to keep Curtis’ collection “robust and relevant,” Doucett said.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
