BRUNSWICK — Natalie Thompson Bates, 93, a resident of Horizon Living and Rehab Center, Brunswick, ME, died October 7, 2012 of natural causes.

She was born November 1918 in Salem, MA, grew up in Beverly, MA and graduated from Beverly High School in 1936.

She then worked as a secretary at the Danvers, MA State Hospital for several years prior to marrying the late Jerome Bates in 1943. She resided in Danvers, MA from 1950 to 1976 with her husband and two sons, Peter and Geoffrey.

She was active in bowling leagues, and enjoyed dancing and a good game of bridge. From 1977 to 1997 she resided in Port Charlotte, FL with her husband, who died in 1981. During the last fifteen years of her life, she resided in the Brunswick/Topsham, ME area in Assisted Living Facilities.

She is survived by two sons and their wives (Peter and Cheryl of Roslindale, MA, and Geoffrey and Madeleine of Brunswick, ME), two grandsons and their wives (Geoffrey II and Kurstan of Roswell, GA, and Jonathan and Danielle of Block Island, RI), and two great-grandchildren (Courtney and Alex Bates of Roswell, GA).

A Memorial Service will held on November 17, 2012 at 11AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on 132 McKeen St, Brunswick, ME where she was a parishioner. Interment will be in Salem, MA at a family cemetery site. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Midcoast Hunger Prevention Center, Brunswick, ME.
