An organization of local governments is asking for public input on how to improve Route 24.
The Route 24 Multi-Modal Corridor Study meeting will take place 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Topsham Town Office.
Route 24 has been identified by the Maine Department of Transportation as a “corridor of regional economic significance for transportation.”
In a news release, the Midcoast Council of Governments said many of Maine’s transportation needs “can be most effectively addressed at the corridor level rather than on a piecemeal basis.”
“A corridor approach offers the opportunity for communities to collectively plot a future strategy” to produce a more successful outcome than if each community acted on its own, the statement said.
The Midcoast Council of Governments provides regional land use and transportation planning, as well as economic and community development services, to Sagadahoc County, Brunswick and Harpswell.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
