BRUNSWICK — Curtis Friends, Sisters in Crime and Maine Crime Writers announce an evening with crime author J.A. Hitchcock. Hitchcock will discuss her work and autograph books at Curtis Memorial Library’s morrell Meeting Room on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
Hitchcock is third in a series of four mystery authors to visit the library this fall. All events are free of charge.
According to a news release, Hitchcock, nonfiction true crime writer and noted cybercrime and security expert, uses her own experience as the victim of a cyberstalker to help others avoid the very real problems of online crime. She is celebrated for her work to pass tough cybercrime legislation, train law enforcement personnel, and help victims fight back.
She is the author of “Net Crimes and Misdemeanors” and the upcoming “True Crime Online: Most Shocking Stories from the Dark Side of the Web,” in which she journeys into the darkest recesses of the Internet to document a range of criminals, from bullies and stalkers to scam artists, sexual predators and serial killers.
Free refreshments will be provided by Bohemian Coffee House and Gulf of Maine Books will have copies of Hitchcock’s books for sale.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
