Friday, Sept. 21: Keller Williams Realty Portland is sponsoring the first-ever Maine Suitcase Party fundraiser to benefit Camp Sunshine. Partygoers bring packed suitcases to the event, held in a private hangar at the Portland Jetport, with grand prize raffle winners boarding a private jet with a guest for an expenses-paid, swanky weekend in New York City. Other lucky winners and their guests will climb into limousines for luxurious weekend getaways at regional resorts and hotels. Hosted by Maine Aviation Corporation, the Maine Suitcase Party (www.mainesuitcaseparty.com) will take place from 7-11 p.m. in a private hangar at the Portland Jetport. Saturday, Sept. 22: The third annual Dog Paddle Cruise aboard the Songo River Queen II to support Harvest Hills Animal Shelter takes place 2-4 p.m. Tickets are $20. Montgomery Road Band provides entertainment. Snacks, cash bar, door prizes, 50/50. Sponsors include Al Murphy Waste Systems, Moose Landing Marina, Songo River Queen and Naples Pizza and Dugout. Tickets are available at the animal shelter and the Queen.

Sept. 22: The Bonny Eagle Pep Band will kick off the Pep season with a performance at Kiwanis Beach in Standish from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will be a family and community day at the beach with games, swimming (for those brave enough), and of course, music. The event is also open to all BEHS students and community members, so please feel free to come and bring a picnic, and have some fun. The beach will be open from 10-3, and the band will perform from noon-1 p.m. There will be some baked goods and food available for purchase, with proceeds going to the Bonny Eagle Music Boosters. The event will be canceled in the event of steady rain, and this will posted the day before on the school’s website.

Sept. 22: From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Bridgton Recreation Advancement Group would like to invite the entire community to experience Bridgton’s amazing new Kendal and Anna Ham Recreation Complex. There will be official recreation soccer games, a baseball tournament, kickball and a home run derby for the public. There will be fun things for the whole family including complex tours, bouncy house, games, and BRAG directors will be cooking up some burgers and dogs. It is sure to be a fun day and one that has been over a decade in the making.

Sept. 22: Enjoy a chicken parmesan dinner at Faith Lutheran Church, 988 Roosevelt Trail, North Windham from 5-7 p.m. There will be entertainment provided by Piano Dave Hansen and the Yellow Bottom Waublers, as well as vocals by Shelly Thorp. The dinner will include Italian wedding soup, fresh garden salad, Italian breads, chicken parmesan with spaghetti, spumoni ice cream and cookie. A free will donation will be asked.

Sept. 22: Yard/Bake Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Assembly of God, 48 Cottage Road, Windham. Sale will be inside if it rains. For more information, call 892-5980.

Sept. 22: Saint Joseph’s College will offer a Babysitter’s Training & First Aid Certification class at the Harold Alfond Center on the Standish campus. The course will provide young people, ages 11 to 15, with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. With successful completion of the course, participants will earn an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training certification. Students are asked to bring their own lunch, snacks, and a drink. Sept. 27-30: Schoolhouse Arts Center will present “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep,” written and directed by Jerry Walker, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Not appropriate for younger children due to mature themes. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Schoolhouse Arts Center is located at 16 Richville Road (Route 114) in Standish, just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35. Saturday, Sept. 29: The Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its ninth annual Maine Lakes Brew Fest on the beach at Point Sebago Resort in Casco. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature up to 30 brewers and more than 90 different beers and wines to sample. Two live bands and plenty of local food vendors makes this the area’s biggest party. Tickets are $25 and $30 day of the event and are on sale now at www.mainelakesbrewfest.com, the Speedy Stop in Raymond, or at the Chamber office in Bridgton. Call 647-3472 for more information.
