HARPSWELL — Mid Coast Senior Health Center is sponsoring A Matter of Balance, a nationally recognized program for older adults who have concerns about falling. This program will be offered at no charge at the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust, 153 Harpswell Neck Road, on Wednesdays, Oct. 3 through Nov. 28, (no class Nov. 21) from 10 a.m. to noon.
A news release describes the program as follows:
The classes, coached by Judith Redwine, NP, LCSW, and Collette Sparks, RN, emphasize implementing practical strategies to manage and control falls, setting goals for increasing activity, making changes to reduce fall risks at home, and exercising to increase strength and balance. It is open to anyone concerned about falls; those interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength; and to anyone who has fallen or who has restricted activities because of falling concerns.
The class size is limited and registration is required and may be made by calling the Mid Coast Senior Health Center at 729-8033.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
