BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin junior volleyball setter Sophia Cornew has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week.
Cornew led the Polar Bears to an unbeaten weekend at the season-opening Endicott Invitational, earning All- Tournament honors in the process. The setter averaged 10 assists and 2.1 digs per set to go with eight service aces.
Cornew was at her best on Saturday when she led her team to a 3-1 triumph over regional rival UMass Boston. She dished out 45 assists to go with nine digs and two aces.
Bowdoin was the only team in the tournament to record a perfect 4-0 mark.
Cornew shared the conference’s weekly honor with Katie Ketcham of Connecticut College.
