BRUNSWICK
An Alabama couple was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a van struck them on Maine Street Saturday afternoon.
The incident was reported at 2:31 p.m. at the intersection of Maine and Cumberland Streets, according to Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.
A 2006 Dodge van driven by Eric Pulsifer, 39, of Bowdoin was headed south on Maine Street and was in the center lane. The two pedestrians were in the crosswalk on Maine Street headed east toward Center Street, Hagan said, and Pulsifer didn’t see them and struck them.
The pedestrians, Gilbert Renault, 62, and Elizabeth Renault, 60, of Florence, Ala., both complained of back pain and were transported to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick where they were treated and released, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Charges were pending as of Monday morning.
