WISCASSET — On Friday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon, architectural historian Dr. James Garvin will give a special tour of Castle Tucker, focusing on the architecture of the Lee and the Tucker period.

A news release describes the tour as follows:

Dr. Garvin will guide participants through the changes made and the mysteries left behind in this unique house. This is a rare opportunity to tour the house from attic to basement with one of New England’s most renowned architectural history experts.

With training in history, architecture, engineering, geography and traditional building methods and materials, Dr. Garvin can read a building and reveal its secrets, explaining what he is seeing in a wonderful, engaging way that reaches both expert and enthusiast. Recently retired as state architectural historian in the New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources, his ability to understand the structure of a building, its place in the continuum of New England styles, as well as its furnishings and occupants, give him a unique and rich perspective that he delights in sharing with others.

Advance reservations and payment are required. Space is very limited. Admission is $25 for members of Historic New England, $35 for non-members.
