PHIPPSBURG — Barbara P. Hagerthy, 77, of Englewood, FL, passed away peacefully, at her summer residence in Small Point, with her family by her side on Sunday, August 19th, 2012. She was born in Bath on September 24, 1934 the daughter of William and Edith (Shorey) Parks. She grew up in Bath, graduating from Morse High School the class of 1953. She was one of the stars of Mohiba, where Dana Hagerthy fell in love with her as she sang “Somewhere over the rainbow”. The couple were married on May 8th, 1953 at the Elim Street Baptist Church.

Barb was the owner and founder of a popular Bath clothing store “Hagerthy’s Casuals” and later owner and founder of the “Dancing Bear Boutique”.

Barb was a true loving free spirit who enjoyed life. She loved being with her family, spending her spare time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a caring person who always thought about everyone else before herself. She made sure everyone was happy. She was an avid BINGO player, and enjoyed running her business’.

Barbara retired to enjoy life, and in 2002 Dana and her moved to Englewood, Florida, where she escaped the snow. She loved the sunshine and her friends at the BINGO games. She will be sadly missed by all those that loved her.

She was a member and past president of the Bath Emblem Club and a life member of the Elim Street Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.

Edwards and her husband Russell of Bath, Tamara Bryan and her husband Edver of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Cama Hagerthy and her companion Alex Logan of Boothbay Harbor, Dana Hagerthy II and his companion Shelby Hall of Bath and Barbara Holbrook and her husband Charles Jr. of Phippsburg; grandchildren, Ocean Dreves, Brent Holbrook, Hope Logan, Liz Holbrook, Connor Hagerthy, and Magen Hagerthy and Nieces, Kelli Small of Woolwich and Ginger Parks of FL.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 22 from 4:30 – 6:30pm at the David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, 638 High Street, Bath. A funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 1:00pm at the funeral home. The family will be having a gathering after the burial on Thursday, August 23 at Barbara Holbrook’s home on 197 Main Road, Phippsburg.
