A Norridgewock woman was issued a ticket for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle after crashing along Interstate 295 Tuesday night.

Maine State Police Trooper Chris Rogers said the crash was reported at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday along I-295 northbound near mile marker 46 — just past the Alexander Reed Road overpass.

Rogers said Faustina Ryder, 33, of Norridgewock was driving her 1998 Honda Civic north and told Rogers her phone fell off the seat onto the floor. She reached for it, took her eyes off the road, and crossed both lanes, went off the left side of the road, over-corrected and came back across both lanes and went off the highway on the right side. Rogers said the car overturned, hit a couple of small fir trees and came to rest on the roof.

There were no other passengers and no other vehicles were involved, Rogers said. Ryder sustained minor injuries of cuts and bruises and was evaluated at the scene by North East Mobile Health Services emergency personnel. Her car was towed by Rick’s Towing. Rogers said one lane of the highway was closed for between 20 and 25 minutes so the trees could be cut and vehicle removed.

Richmond, Bowdoinham and Bowdoin fire departments were on scene.

Rogers issued Ryder the civil infraction of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
