The Long Reach Swim Club of the Bath Area Family YMCA compiled 3,586.50 points to beat out runner-up Coastal Maine Aquatics (3,045.50) and win the Maine Swimming Inc. U.S. Championships, held recently at the St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, Aquatics Center.

“LRSC had a great meet,” said head coach Jay Morissette. “Though we had a dozen less kids than last year, we had some new kids and our balance helped us to defend our team title for the fourth time in a row!”

The Long Reach girls came in first with 1,789.50 points, followed by Coastal Maine (1,678.50), Sanford (953), Portland Porpoises (950) and Hurricane Swim Club (820) to round out the top five. Casco Bay of Freeport was 11th out of 16 teams with 207 points.

Long Reach boys also won with 1,797 points, followed by Coastal Maine (1,367), Hurricanes (799), Portland Porpoises (767) and Down East (756) with Casco Bay 10th (346) out of 17 squads.

In 10-and-under girls, Emily Ecker of Portland was the top point-getter with 109 with Margie McLeod of Casco third (106) and Ella Tycz of LRSC 10th (71).

In 10-and-under boys, Carson Prouty of the Hurricanes was tops with 120 points.

In 11-12 girls, Caitlin Tycz of LRSC was tops with 120 points, while Mackie Libsack of Casco Bay (101) was fourth, Sophia Kruse of Long Reach fifth (95), Zelda Clegg of Long Reach 13th (69), Leah Totman of LRSC 24th (31) and teammates Katherine Hartnett (24) and Halley Gellatly (14), 29th and 31st, respectively.

Colby Prouty IV of Hurricanes won the 11-12 boys with 120 points, while Brian Hess of Long Reach (98) was fourth. Long Reach teammates Andrew Samson was ninth (83), Henry Raker 10th (82), Dominic Marco (15th (56), and Alexander Gurney 25th (18).

Sonia Lin of Long Reach captured 120 points to win the 13-14 girls with teammate Ann Tolan (86) in fifth and Emilie Burrill (71) 11th.

Mike O’Donovan of Portland scored 117 points to capture the 13-14 boys with Nate Samson of Long Reach second with 114.

Spencer Lindsley of LRSC came in 10th (78), followed by teammates Brad Tibbetts in 18th (52), Cameron Marco 21st (35), Maxwell Gurney 22nd (33), Stephen Scheibner 24th (23), Nicholas White 26th (15) and Patrick McKenna 27th (10).

Jessica Russell of LRSC won the 15-and-over girls division with 109 points with teammate Emily Buczkowski sixth with 93 points.

Other Long Reach participants included Tessa Lindsley and Hope Logan (tied for ninth, 74 points), Celia Ouellette (15th, 61), Guerin Morissette (29th, 21.50), Baleigh Scheibner (32nd, 16), Libby Ouellette (33rd, 15), Bronwyn Morissette (34th, 11).

Arthur Conover of the Mid- Maine Dolphins won the 15- and-over boys with 112 points, while Travis Libsack of Casco Bay took sixth (84).

Joey Blair of LRSC placed 13th overall (66) in 15-andover, followed by teammates Jake Olson (20th, 49), Peter Burtt (25th, 34), Nate Leonard (32nd, 21), Ryan Banger (37th, 19), Will Hadden (39th, 17), Kyle Bauer (41st, 15), Ross Hawks (41st, 15), Daniel Jacques (43rd, 13), Wesley McKenna (44th, 12) and Josh Valentine (45th, 11).

Casco Bay’s Luca Seid was 16th (60) and teammate Zack Roland 22nd (38).

New LRSC team records, include the 11-12 girls 400 medley relay (first time for LRSC) of Clegg, Totman, Kruse and Hartnett in 6:27.23.

Caitlin Tycz set team marks in the 50 backstroke (32.77, state record as well), 100 butterfly (1:05.55, state record), 100 backstroke (1:13.44), 50 free (27.65, state record), 50 fly (29.50, state record), 100 free (1:02.35) and 200 fly (2:38.38).

The 11-12 boys 400 medley relay of Samson, Hess, Raker and Dominic Marco set a team mark in 6:00.92, while the same foursome set records in the 200 medley relay (2:35.39) and 400 free relay (5:08.37).

Other team records belong to Hess in the 50 breaststroke (39.98) and 200 breaststroke (3:16.24) and Raker in the 400 free (5:43.15).

In 13-14 girls, Lin notched team marks in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.47) and 200 breaststroke (2:56.47).

In 13-14 boys, the 200 free relay of Patrick McKenna, Tibbetts, Lindsley and Nate Samson (1:57.35) and the 400 medley relay foursome of Lindsley, Samson, Tibbetts and Max Gurney (5:05.20) set team marks.

Also, Samson in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.75), 50 free (26.23), 100 free (59.55), 50 back (31.02), 100 back (1:03.91) and 200 back (2:23.82).

In 15-18 girls, records fell to Russell in the 200 free (2:11.04) and 800 free (10:02.77), while the Senior girls 200 free relay of Buczkowski, Russell, Tessa Lindsley and Celia Ouellette (1:53.63) set a team and state record.

The same foursome also set a team and state records in the 400 free relay, while Buczkowski, Russell, Logan and Lindsley set an 800 free relay mark.

Max Anderson of Phippsburg also competed in the 15- and-over division. Anderson was 15th in the 100 butterfly (1:13.15), third in the 200 breaststroke (2:47.36), fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.83) and 13th in the 400 IM (5:50.06).

Casco Bay marks

Casco bay also enjoyed several team records.

In 9-10 girls, records were captured by McLeod in the 50 free (35.74), 100 free (1:25.31), 50 back (38.61), 100 back (1:27.62) and 50 breast (51.18), while Roland set a Senior boys 200 breast (2:58.28) and Travis Libsack a Senior 400 IM mark (5:17.21).

Casco Bay relay records fell in the Senior boys with Benjamin Tompkins, Roland, Libsack and Seid in the 400 free (4:15.11), 800 free (9:27.97), 200 medley (2:18.94) and 400 medley (4:52.66).
