WISCASSET
An interactive summer program at the Chewonki Foundation campus in Wiscasset will aim to illuminate the lives of nocturnal owls.
The interactive program will begin with slides and sounds to introduce the different appearances and calls for the foundation’s barred, great horned and screech or sawwhet owls. The owls are native to Maine and New England.
Participants also will have a chance to handle the owls during the all-ages program.
The owl program will take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday and will be followed by a half-hour tour of the Chewonki campus, at 485 Chewonki Neck Road in Wiscasset.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
