AUGUSTA (AP) — The Maine Ethics Commission won’t impose civil penalties on a former lawmaker who’s serving a six-month jail sentence and been ordered to pay restitution for misusing money from the taxpayerfinanced Clean Election fund.

The five-member commission decided Wednesday that David Burns of Alfred is already receiving enough punishment following his conviction on theft and forgery charges for diverting more than $2,500 of Clean Election money for personal purposes during his 2010 campaign.
