PHIPPSBURG — In response to one recent suicide and one attempted suicide by local youth, a public gathering is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Phippsburg Elementary School, 1047 Main Road (Route 209).
The gathering is open to all Regional School Unit 1 students and families, and the general public, and will provide an opportunity for community members to discuss ways to protect children from suicide.
Carrie Horne from the Maine Youth Suicide Prevention Program and the National Alliance on Mental Health, Maine, will speak. Representatives from Mid Coast Parents Connect, Sweetser, and other local youth, school and community leaders will also be present.
