BRUNSWICK
People Plus will host a “Tick talk” to share tips on how to reduce the risk of contracting Lyme disease at 11 a.m. Wednesday at 35 Union St.
Lyme disease, a tick-borne illness, is on the rise nationwide. Since the year 2000, it has increased tenfold or more in several New England states.
A representative of Mainely Ticks will lead the discussion and will focus on how to use a combination of education and awareness, landscape modifications, personal protection strategies, and the proper and timely removal of attached ticks to significantly reduce the chance of contracting a tick-borne disease.
This discussion also will walk attendees through the steps of tick identification, proper tick removal and tick submission.
Advance registration is required. For more information or to register, call People Plus at 729-0757. For more information on ticks, visit www.mainelyticks.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
