BATH — The Bath Parks and Recreation’s fifth/sixthgrade girls lacrosse teams, coached by Kristin Orr and Heather Lowe, continued a solid season this past weekend at Falmouth.

The Destroyers split a pair of games, losing to Freeport, 8-6, before defeating Falmouth, 10-3.

Freeport jumped out to a 6-1 halftime lead, with Bath’s goal scored by Mackenzie Johnston.

In the second half, Bath goaltender Zenaide McCarthy blocked Freeport’s first shot. She made a clearing pass to Charlotte Collins, who connected with Emma Warner. A pass moments later to Margaret Keating got the Destroyers going.

Hannah Card forced a turnover, which led to a goal by Madlyn McDonough. Ella Dempsey-Blair was a defensive standout, and strong passing by Macie Gagne led to a Mae Winglass goal. The last goal was initiated by Zoe Pascuzzo, whose groundball led to a score by Johnston.

Against Falmouth, Teagan Guenther and Sarah Berkowitz were defensive standouts. Bath showed strong midfield play by Gagne, Winglass and Collins. Katy Tucker on offense moved the ball through to Nadia Leiner, who pushed to keep the game in play for Bath’s offense.

Gagne scored for Bath, while Warner assisted Winglass for another goal.

McCarthy blocked two freeposition shots, while Pascuzzo, Dempsey-Blair and Berkowitz were strong defensively.

Keating closed the first half with another score, and Rosa Atienda stood out.

The second half opened up with a quick goal by McDonough (assisted by Gagne) and McDonough scored another goal moments after winning a draw.
