WEST BATH — The Maine Warden Service is investigating a serious allterrain vehicle crash that happened Wednesday on Hill Road. The crash sent the driver and passenger to the hospital — one by helicopter.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:53 p.m., according to the warden service.
Gifford T. Campbell, 38, of Bath, was operating a 1996 Honda four-wheeler with Krista Gallagher, 38, also of Bath, as a passenger.
Following the crash, Campbell was taken by a LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for treatment of a serious head injury. Gallagher was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of head injuries.
“Neither occupant was wearing a helmet,” the release states. “Investigators are working to determine if speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. Members of the Warden Service Reconstruction Team will reconstruct the scene.”
The primary investigating officer is Warden Evan Franklin who is assisted by wardens Bob Decker, Tony Gray and Peter Herring. Deputy Matt Shiers and Sgt. Greg Siegel of the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Office also assisted at the scene. Bath paramedics assisted West Bath first responders treat the injured people on scene.
The release, issued at approximately 9 a.m. today, stated that no further information was available at this time.
