BATH — The Bath Public Works garage, wastewater facility and landfill will be open to the public Thursday afternoon in recognition of National Public Works Week.
During the annual event, more than 28,000 members of the American Public Works Association (APWA) “energize and educate the public on the importance of the contribution of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing and operating the heart of our local communities and building the quality of life,” a release from the Bath Department of Public Works states.
This year’s theme, “Public Works: Creating a Lasting Impression,” “speaks to the never-ending efforts of public works professionals to use sustainable solutions to bring their communities the highest possible quality of life within a framework of environmental, social and economic responsibility,” the release states.
From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, the public is invited to visit the facilities. For more information call 443-8357.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
