PORTLAND — Portlandbased Konbit Sante Cap-Haitien Health Partnership’s third annual Maine Walks for Haiti and 5K Run slated for May 12 is expanded this year to include a 5K timed run as well as a walk around Portland’s Back Cove Trail.
According to a news release, Brunswick’s Mid Coast Hospital is a sponsor of the event.
“This is a great opportunity for our employees and our community to do something healthy while supporting an international cause and making a difference,” said Steve Trockman, Mid Coast’s director of Community Relations and Outreach.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., runners start at 9:30 a.m., and walkers begin at 10:30 a.m. Awards will be presented to the three top male and female runners, and for individuals and teams who raise the most donations. We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
