GORHAM – The Gorham Town Council will consider offering a $10,000 reward in the rash of recent arsons in a special meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Gorham Municipal Center.

Since March 27, Gorham has been targeted with four arsons, with another ruled as suspicious. The most recent arson case was at a house at 56 Dingley Spring Road on April 11. The five fires have been in unoccupied buildings.

Gorham Police Chief Ronald Shepard will update the council about the continuing investigations. The council is expected to ask Shepard whether additional resources are needed in the investigations.

Last week, investigators seeking public information canvassed neighborhoods door to door and distributed flyers.

“We got a lot of information,” Shepard said Friday. “It generated some follow up work by our detectives.”

A reward would be for information that leads to the apprehension of those involved in the arson cases. The money would come from the town’s contingency account.
