WILTON — A Jay man was killed when he crashed his pickup truck into a telephone pole early this morning, police said.

David Goulette, 44, was driving on Route 156 when the crash happened just south of U.S. Route 2, the Wilton Police Department stated in a release.

Goulette’s 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche veered off the road at about 12:19 a.m. and hit a pile of rocks, sending the truck flying into a telephone pole. Goulette was ejected from the vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.

Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash and police are continuing to investigate.
