BRUNSWICK — Seniors Mitchell Black of Brunswick High School and James Andretta of Wiscasset High School were each selected for their school’s Principal’s Award.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

Upon making the announcement, Brunswick Principal Donna Borowick said, “Throughout his years at Brunswick High, Mitchell has distinguished himself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and the community. He very much deserves this recognition.”

According to a news release, Wiscasset Principal Deborah Taylor, along with the high school administrative team, chose Andretta for this award “to recognize his outstanding academic record as well as his many high school activities. James has been an involved and valuable athlete participating in soccer, basketball and soccer. James was selected as a member of the National Honor Society in his junior year. He has also served as a middle school mentor for the past two years. … James has been a top 10 sophomore and also been awarded the Wesleyan College Book Award. James is currently serving as vice president of the senior class.”

Award winners and their principals from around the state will attend an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on Saturday at 1 p.m.
