BATH — The Bath City Council will hold a workshop Thursday evening to discuss how — and if — they will address stormwater drainage issues in the Richardson Street area.
The area includes portions of the Hyde School property, several of the Pine Hill Condominiums and Eco-Village One subdivision. It drains into the system and has experienced flooding over several years due to an inadequate 18-inch diameter pipe, according to engineering firm Wright- Pierce, which was hired by the town, at a cost of $35,000, to analyze the situation.
They propose replacing approximately 1,850 lineal feet of pipe — some at a depth of more than 20 feet — with a 36-inch diameter pipe, according to a March 21 letter from Project Manager Joseph McLean and Project Engineer Christine Rinehart.
Initial estimates indicate the project would cost approximately $850,000, but variables in that cost include ledge beneath the surface, which would require blasting.
The council will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.
