
He was born in Topsham October 10, 1927, a son of George W. and Crystal N. (Burpee) Naugler. George was educated in Brunswick schools, graduated from Brunswick High School and remained a lifelong resident of the greater Durham – Brunswick community.
Mr. Naugler was a Veteran of the Military having served his country in the Army and Air Force during the Korean Conflict until his Honorable Discharge. On March 22, 1959, in the town of Orono, he married the former Mary E. Brown of Durham and together they settled in Durham to raise their family.
After the military, George first worked for a short time in heavy equipment and then worked many years at Brunswick Naval Air Station Civil Service, Crash and Rescue. Being a mechanic by trade, he worked for a time at Agway, Wade and Dunton, Schotts Golf Carts, Martindale Country Club and owned and operated a small engine repair shop in Durham.
George attended the First Congregational Church of Durham and was a member of Kora Shrine Temple, the Masons and was a charter member of the AMVETS Lincoln E. Clements Post #13 in Durham Among his favorite enjoyments were gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and a game of horseshoes. He was a loving, devoted and hard- working husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Mary E. Naugler of Durham; three daughters Sally Roane and husband Paul of Brunswick, Deanna Artis and husband Mike of Durham, Terry Davis and husband Dave of Mooresville, NC; one son George L. (Skip) Naugler and wife Beverly of Auburn; eight grandchildren Mollie and Jenna Roane, Shaine and Mardi Artis, Chris and Roberta Haines, Kevin Naugler and Zac Davis and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers; Reginald and Walter Naugler and three sisters; Priscilla Naugler, Neoda Stockford, and Patricia Lakeway.
