Matthew Enman, 22, was arrested by Officer Josh Staples at 7:27 a.m. Feb. 10.
Richmond Police Chief Scott MacMaster said Enman was arrested on a warrant issued by Essex County Superior Court in Vermont for a felony count of lewd or lascivious conduct with a child and the felony count of sexual assault of a victim younger than 16 years old. MacMaster said Enman failed to appear for his arraignment on Dec. 22, 2011.
The Richmond Police Department also charged Enman with being a fugitive from justice. Bail was set at $2,500 cash or surety, which Enman reportedly couldn’t pay, so he was transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.
The arrest came after the Richmond Police Department received a call from an Essex County Sheriff ’s Department deputy who conveyed information that Enman was staying at 50 Hideaway Lane in Richmond. Staples went to that address, located Enman and arrested him without incident, according to MacMaster.
Enman returned to Vermont in the custody of the Essex County Sheriff ’s Department, according to a Two Bridges Regional Jail spokesman.
