YARMOUTH – Alex Kurtz had two goals and an assist Wednesday as Yarmouth earned a 4-1 victory against South Portland in a schoolboy hockey game at Travis Roy Arena.
Eamon Costello added a goal and an assist, Connor Lainey had two assists and David Klemmer also scored for Yarmouth (7-3-1).
James Gilboy scored for South Portland (3-9).
GIRLS’ HOCKEY
YORK 3, GREELY 0: Nicci Heroux scored each goal for the Wildcats (11-3-3) against the Rangers (12-5) at Falmouth.
Heroux scored unassisted in the first period, made it 2-0 from Kendall Carr after 19 seconds of the third and then added an empty-netter with about 1:30 left.
Olivia Drew made 15 saves for the shutout. Emma Seymour stopped 13 shots for Greely.
PORTLAND-DEERING 6, CAPE ELIZABETH-WAYNFLETE 4: Raechel Allen scored four goals and assisted on a fifth to lead Portland-Deering (8-8) past Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete (5-12) at Portland.
Georgia Drew, from Lindsey Sneider and Allen, broke a 2-2 tie in the second period. Allen then scored twice in a two-minute span early in the third to open the lead to 5-2.
Gretchen Stevens scored twice for Cape Elizabeth-Waynflete.
LEWISTON 2, YARMOUTH-FREEPORT 1: Erica Lemieux scored from Ashley Chase and Mikaela Brown with 2:58 left, lifting the Blue Devils (9-8) over Yarmouth-Freeport (6-11) at Lewiston.
The goal was Lemieux’s second of the game. Emily Johnson scored for Yarmouth-Freeport.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
SANFORD 63, WINDHAM 58: Ryan Camire hit a layup to open overtime, then converted 11 free throws to help the Redskins (8-7) down Windham (4-11) at Sanford.
Windham, behind Thomas McGowan’s eight points and Dylan Weisser’s seven, forced overtime by eliminating Sanford’s 14-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Camire finished with 25 points. Jimmie Chaisson had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Matt Dupuis 12 points for Sanford. Dylan Weisser scored 14, McGowan and Shawn Francoeur 13 each, and Kevin Weisser 10 for the Eagles.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
KENTS HILL 37, HYDE 22: Samantha Larrabee scored 11 of her 13 points in the third quarter as Kents Hill (4-5) used a 17-4 run to open a 35-19 lead against the Phoenix (0-13) at Bath.
Kathryn Comeaux scored 14 for Hyde.
OLD ORCHARD BEACH 63, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 26: Mackenzie Rague assisted on four of the five second-quarter baskets as the Seagulls (9-6) widened an 11-8 lead to 30-12 at halftime and beat Greater Portland Christian (6-6) at Old Orchard Beach.
Christina Coleman led Old Orchard with 14 points; Abigail Dubois scored 13 and Anna Foss 10. Suzane Gonzalez paced the Lions with 16 points.
CAMDEN HILLS 60, WATERVILLE 36: Jordan Knowlton scored 21 of her 25 points in the second half as the Windjammers (12-3), leading just 27-20 at halftime, pulled away from the Purple Panthers (8-7) at Waterville.
Camden Hills moved into third place in Eastern Class B, where the top three teams earn a bye into the quarterfinals.
Waterville would have been in position for a home preliminary-round playoff game with a win.
