TORONTO – James Reimer stopped all 25 shots he faced and Clarke MacArthur scored in the third period to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs over the Pittsburgh Penguins 1-0 on Wednesday night.
The win ended the Penguins’ eight-game winning streak and gave the Maple Leafs a split of a home-and-home set. On Tuesday night in Pittsburgh, the Penguins won 5-4 in a shootout.
On the winning goal, MacArthur took a pass from Mikhail Grabovski and deked around Brent Johnson with 6:05 to go in regulation.
Reimer, who was starting for only the second time in 14 games, registered his first shutout since opening night against Montreal in October.
RANGERS 1, SABRES 0: Ryan Callahan scored the decisive shootout goal and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 34 shots to lead New York at Buffalo, N.Y.
Callahan scored in the fifth round of the shootout by driving in on Ryan Miller, leaning to his right and snapping a shot into the open left side.
Marian Gaborik had scored in the first round of the shootout and the Sabres’ Jason Pominville answered in the third round, beating Lundqvist on the stick side.
PANTHERS 4, CAPITALS 2: Mikael Samuelsson had two goals as Florida beat visiting Washington.
Stephen Weiss and Shawn Matthias also scored for Florida, and Scott Clemmensen stopped 26 shots. Tomas Fleischmann had a pair of assists for the Panthers, who moved into first place in the Southeast Division — one point ahead of Washington.

The Penguins claimed center Cal O’Reilly off waivers when the Coyotes tried to move him back to the NHL after he spent the past two weekends with the Portland Pirates … Devils forward Eric Boulton and Blue Jackets forward Jared Boll were fined $2,500 by the NHL. Boulton slashed Rangers forward Mike Rupp Tuesday. Boll delivered an illegal check to the head of Sharks forward Joe Thornton Tuesday night.
