PHIPPSBURG — The Dickie Lemont “Take a Kid Fishing Ice Fishing Derby,” sponsored by the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association, will be held on Feb. 12 on the lakes and ponds of Sagadahoc County.
The derby is open to anglers of all ages, with youth participation encouraged as all youths receive a prize.
The door prize is a Maine Resident Lifetime Fishing License, and there will be prizes for the top three youth finishers in each category of sports fish. Prizes include traps from Max Traps and Bill Harmon’s handmade pack baskets. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six tickets.
Weigh-in is from noon to 4 p. m. at the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Association Clubhouse and Outdoor Education Center on Rt. 209.
If you’re new to ice fishing and want help with technique or equipment, the Sportsmen’s Association will provide assistance.
