BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College’s indoor track teams swept their opening meets of 2012 at Farley Field House on Saturday afternoon.

 
 
Competing in four-team fields, the Polar Bears each took first-place overall. The women totaled 241 points to beat Southern Maine (132), WPI (130) and Brandeis (42). The men scored 231 and beat WPI (168), Southern Maine (109) and Brandeis (38).

 
 
The Polar Bears had several winners on the women’s side, including Emily Barr in the 60-meter dash (8.30) and Elsa Millett in the 600 (1:41.09). Bowdoin excelled in the distance events as Chantal Croteau took the 1,000 (3:07.49), Anna Ackerman placed first in the 3,000 (10:50.26) and Olivia MacKenzie won the 5,000 (18:08.37).

Bowdoinswepttherelayeventsbywinningthe4x200 (1:52.55, Cleo Daoud, Annie Huyler, Emily Clark, Samantha Copland), 4 x 400 (4:17.94, Copland, Daoud, Barr, Millett) and 4 x 800 (10:25.70, Liza LePage, Maddie Lamo, Caroline Tory, Maggie Bryan). In the field events, Erin Silva won the pole vault (11-01), Laura Peterson took the long jump (16-07.75) and former Mt. Ararat High School standout Randi London was victorious in the shot put (37-08.50).

 
 
In the men’s meet, Bowdoin’s depth carried the day. Winners included Matthew Hillard in the 800 (2:01.35), Alex Williams in the 3,000 (8:51.94) and Sam Seekins in the 5,000 (15:20.15).The4x800meterrelayteamof ChristianSleeper, Will Ossoff, Colin Ogilvie and Colin Fong took the gold in 8:20.92. In the field events, Sam Chick won the triple jump (42-05.75) for the Polar Bears.
