FREEPORT — Host Freeport withstood a fourthquarter rally from Fryeburg Academy for a 43-41 Western Maine Conference victory on Tuesday.
“We pulled away in the third quarter and tried to hold the lead, and were up by seven, but ( Maggie) McConkey hit two 3-pointers and Nina (Davenport) made a free throw in the last seconds,” said Freeport coach Jen Chon, whose team is 5-3 and plays host to Greely on Thursday at 7 p.m. “It was an ugly win, but a win is a win!”
The Falcons darted out to a 13-6 lead after a quarter, but Fryeburg (2-7) rallied to tie the game, 19-19, at the half. In the third quarter, Freeport outscored the visitors 17-5 for a 36-24 lead.
Davenport led the way with 14 points for Freeport, with Leigh Wyman adding 11 points, Morgan Brown 10 and Hannah Chase eight.
Skye Doyle had a gamehigh 16 points for Fryeburg, while McConkey matched Davenport with 14 points. Kendra Fox chipped in nine.

In Mountain Valley Conference action, Wiscasset dipped to 0-8 and is scheduled to host Winthrop today at 5:30 p.m.
Monmouth (5-4) held quarterly leads of 8-4, 23-6 and 35- 16, and Kristine Kahl scored 13 points, Kylie Kemp 10 and Melissa Broussard nine.
In the Wiscasset effort, Kayla Connors and Briana Goud each scored eight points
Connors also had 10 rebounds for the Wolverines, while Kahl grabbed 12 caroms and Daisi Poole seven in the winning effort.

Emily McKenney, Sam Bruce and Kristen Wood each scored eight points as the host Bulldogs picked up their second MVC victory over Lisbon in four days.
Madison (9-0), which won at Lisbon 45- 39 on Saturday, pressed Lisbon (3-6) into several turnovers.
Jessica Campbell led the Greyhounds with 15 points. Lisbon, which visits Mountain Valley on Friday, was nine of 17 at the line, while Madison was 19 of 34.

Camden Hills canned 29 free throws en route to a KVAC Class B win over the host Shipbuilders.
Morse, now 3-6 and scheduled to visit Maine Central Institute on Thursday, led 19-8 after one quarter, but Camden jumped into a 32-27 halftime lead and was up 46-36 heading into the final quarter.
Jordan Knowlton led the Windjammers with 30 points, 12 from the charity stripe.
Tori Field paced Morse with 16 points, while Katie Henrikson had 11 and Kerry Cummings 10. Freshman Leia Graves played well off the bench.
At the foul line, Morse was eight of 16 and Camden Hills 29 of 46.
