WEST BATH

After 8.5 years on the job, West Bath Town Administrator Pam Hile will work her last day at the town office on Friday before beginning a new job as Sagadahoc County administrator.

“It’s very exciting,” Hile said Wednesday. “It’s going to be challenging. These are interesting times for everyone. I look forward to working with the county and continuing to work with the towns. Hopefully, we can all find some ways to work together and overcome some of the challenges we face together.”

In August, former county administrator Pam Corrigan resigned abruptly after submitting a harshly worded letter citing emotional distress and what she viewed as an oppressive performance evaluation process as reasons for her immediate departure.

A phone call on Wednesday to Carol Grose, chairwoman of the Sagadahoc County Commissioners, was not returned.

In a letter to residents of West Bath posted on the town website, Hile wrote, “ This was an extremely difficult decision to make as I have greatly enjoyed my time with the citizens and staff of the town; however, I believe it is time for me to make this change.”

The West Bath Board of Selectmen began advertising for Hile’s replacement approximately two weeks ago, according to Hile. Selectmen plan to meet in executive session on Jan. 5 to begin to review applications for the full-time position.

An ad in Wednesday’s edition of The Times Record stated that résumés for the position must be submitted by Friday, but Hile said, “ I know they want to take their time and find the right person.”
