Monday, Dec. 12

Suspicious person – At 1:52 p.m., the Christmas Tree Shop on Payne Road reported that two females took items off store shelves and “attempted to return them for store credit.” The woman had left by the time police arrived.

Lost property – At 5:13 p.m., employees of the Eight Corners Market on Mussey Road reported finding a wallet. It was determined to be the same wallet stolen Dec. 11 from the employee break room at Michael’s arts and crafts store. Identification and credit cards were reportedly still in the wallet, although the $126 it originally contained was gone.

Tuesday, Dec. 13

Assist other agency – Scarborough police joined in a chase initiated by their South Portland counterparts, picking up the 2006 Mitsubishi Gallant on Highland Avenue at 3:34 a.m. The vehicle was reportedly last seen on Pleasant Hill Road, where the driver had turned off its lights in an effort to elude police. The car was later found empty, with doors locked, on Vista Drive, back in South Portland, where city police are investigating the incident.

Thursday, Dec. 15

Theft – At 9:11 a.m., employees of New England Truck Tire on Runway Road reported that a customer drove off without paying after having two tires valued at $606 installed. The man later came back and settled the bills, admitting to a “disagreement” over the price.

Saturday, Dec. 17

Theft – At 1:25 p.m. a Tall Pines Road reported finding $542 in charges from Walmart.com on his debit card, that he claimed not to have incurred. The store reversed the charges and the incident remains under investigation.

Sunday, Dec. 18

Vandalism – At 10:02 a.m. the president of the Mill Brook Association reported that a sign had been stolen from the mill house on Tall Pines Road, at the entrance to the development.
