WESTBROOK – The Cumberland Street bridge is Westbrook is now open to traffic.

The Westbrook Police Department said the bridge reopened early this morning. Cumberland Street in Westbrook had been closed between Harnois Avenue and Brown Street while crews completed emergency bridge repairs on the bridge across the Presumpscot River.

Wednesday morning, workers from the state Department of Transportation began repairing a hole in one of the Cumberland Mills Bridges on Cumberland Street in Westbrook. Tuesday night, workers were patching some pavement when they noticed a sinkhole had emerged.
