The Town of Gray Transfer Station will be accepting brush and limbs, which came down as a result of Tropical Storm Irene. There is no cost to Gray residents from Wednesday, Aug. 31 until Sunday, Sept. 18. All material must originate within the boundaries of the town of Gray.

Patriot soccer news
Patriot Soccer provides a quality youth soccer program primarily for players from the Gray and New Gloucester areas. Fielding both boys and girls teams, this program competes in the U-9 through U-14 divisions.
Saturday, Sept. 10, will be their annual club photo day at the G-NG Middle School (lower field). There will be a full club photo at 9 a.m. so please be there by 8:45 a.m. to get set up and in place. All players, coaches, team administrators and board members are urged to attend.
Following the club photo they will be doing team photos and individual player photos. If you wish to purchase team and individual photos, please fill out the order form found online at www.patriotsoccerclub.org and get the order forms and payment to your team administrator before the photos are taken. Individual player photos will only be taken if payment has been received. See your team administrator for a schedule of team photos or questions
The Patriot Soccer Club is looking to fill various volunteer positions within the club, such as director of coaching, tournament coaches and assistant coaches, team administrators and volunteer coordinator. Please contact President Penney Ward via e-mail at president@patriotsoccerclub.org if you have any interest in helping fill one of these positions.
The club is a 501(c)3 and is a volunteer-run organization. The Crossroads Challenge is a tournament that we hold every Columbus Day weekend and ask that all parents step up to volunteer at least one hour.
At the wildlife park
Landscaping For Wildlife with Skillin’s Greenhouses will be featured from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Maine Wildlife Park on Route 26 in Gray. Expert native landscaping staff will be on hand with a wide selection of native shrubs, small trees and other plants that are hardy and attractive, while providing food and shelter for our birds and wildlife. The following Saturday, Sept. 10, will be the annual Rick Charette Concert at the Park. As a singer and songwriter, Charette has been capturing the hearts and spirits of young and old alike with his delightful and inspiring children’s songs. Many songs performed will be about Maine’s wild animals. The concert will be held 11a.m.-noon, rain or shine. Charette will sign autographs and sell CDs after the show. FMI, www.pinepoint.com/rick.
Call for Scouts
All parents and any boys who are in the first through fifth grades are invited to join in the fun and become a Cub Scout. The Scouting program is one that all boys can participate in and grow with all year long through many indoor and outdoor activities. The holidays ?are coming
The seventh annual Holiday Craft Fair is happening on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Gray-New Gloucester High School on Libby Hill Road in Gray. The fair organizers are very excited about the success of their last fair, and are committed to making the seventh year even better.
This year’s event will run from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with set-up time available at 7 a.m. and take-down from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Once again this year the fair will be featuring art and craft tables of all kinds, children’s activities and food stand.
Table/Space fees are: Space with 6-foot table is $38., B.Y.O. Table space (8X6-feet) is $28.

Gray Extension to meet on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. New members are always welcome. The meetings take place at the Parish House of the Gray Congregational Church on Brown Street.
Beans and…
American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 86 in Gray, will hold its monthly Bean Supper at 15 Lewiston Road on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 5-6 p.m. On the menu are pea and kidney beans, chop suey, cole slaw, hot dogs, breads, pie, coffee and punch.
