Tickets are on sale for this year’s Harvest on the Harbor food festival. The event will take place Oct. 20-22 at Ocean Gateway.
Events include the Ultimate Seafood Splash ($55), the Grand Tasting on the Harbor ($75), the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year Competition ($65), Top of the Crop: Best Farm to Table Chef ($75) and Savory Samplings at the Marketplace ($45). Note that many events often sell out.

Public invited to potluck Tuesday at Quimby Colony
Slow Food Portland and the Portland Permaculture Meetup group will host a potluck from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Quimby Colony, 769 Congress St. Take a tour of the artist-in-residence program’s kitchen and hear a presentation about the national farm bill.
Bring a dish to share along with a plate, bowl, cup, utensils and napkin.

Slow Money Maine hosting monthly meeting July 20
Slow Money Maine will host a meeting from 1 to 4 p.m. July 20 at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta. The monthly meetings connect farmers and food producers with people who can provide technical assistance and financing. It’s part of a nationwide movement to redirect capital investments into the local food system.
In addition to networking opportunities, the event includes presentations by Penny Jordan of Jordan Farms, Will Hopkins of Cobscook Bay Resource Center, Sarah Miller of the Kennebec Local Food Initiative and representatives of Maine Stock.

Annual clam festival runs Friday through Sunday
Clams will be the food of choice in town this weekend. The annual Yarmouth Clam Festival takes place Friday through Sunday along Main Street.
In addition to a carnival, craft fair, art show and live music, the event offers a multitude of food vendors serving clams, lobster rolls, strawberry shortcake, pancakes and pies.

Cultivating Community starts 2011 Twilight Dinners
Cultivating Community will hold the first of its 2011 Twilight Dinners on Thursday at Turkey Hill Farm.
Each three-course meal is prepared by leading southern Maine chefs using local food.
Additional dinners take place July 28, Aug. 11 and 25 and Sept. 8. Tickets cost $25, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own drinks.
