BANGOR — A board is going to decide which of almost 40-land conservation proposals to fund with the $9.25 million available through the Land for Maine’s Future program.

But the board’s Tuesday meeting will all but empty the land conservation program’s coffers, which are filled with voter-approved bonds.

No bond proposals are scheduled to appear on Maine ballots in 2011 so it could be a year or two before the politically popular program has funding to distribute to conservation projects.

The proposals that will be considered Tuesday are for a total of 80,000 acres of land.

The Bangor Daily News says that since 1987, the Land for Maine’s Future program has helped protect more than 530,000 acres of land.
