WINTERPORT — A 25-year-old Maine woman is facing a child endangerment charge that she left a toddler home alone while she went to the store.
A Waldo County sheriff’s deputy went to the home of Rachel Gardner on Monday to serve a subpoena and no one answered when he knocked. But the deputy could see a 2- or 3-year-old child inside watching television.
Officials say that a few minutes later Gardner returned and told the deputy she had gone to the store.
The Bangor Daily News says the deputy then issued Gardner a summons for child endangerment and notified the Maine Department of Health and Human Services about the situation.
