The Caring Community of Gray-New Gloucester will provide Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to those in need in the community through the generous contributions of area individuals, businesses and groups.
The deadline for returning Thanksgiving assistance forms is Friday, Nov. 12, at the locations listed below.
The Christmas applications for meals and/or gifts are available for pick up and drop off at Gray Public Library, Gray Town Hall, New Gloucester Town Hall, New Gloucester First Congregationalist Church and at the Russell, Dunn and Memorial schools. They are due back Dec. 1.

Variety show in Gray!
The Carol Burnett Variety Show is Friday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Gray New Gloucester Middle School on Libby Road in Gray. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children.
Community design workshop
The town of Gray has listed for sale three properties on Shaker Road: Stimson Hall, the former Town Hall, and the old Post Office. In order to enhance the marketability of these properties and to advance the revitalization of Gray Village, a community design workshop will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at 8:30 a.m. at the Pennell Municipal Building.
The Gray Community Economic Development Committee will be hosting this design workshop that will provide citizens with the opportunity to review the town’s research on the block and to discuss the identified redevelopment options as well as explore additional ones in small groups. Come share your vision.
Lunch will be provided to participants, with child care available for a nominal fee of $1 per hour/child.

Community breakfast
The 6th annual Boy Scout Troop 86 Community Breakfast will be held Saturday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 11 a.m. at the American Legion on Route 100 in Gray. Come and enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausage, beans and coffee! Cost is $5 per person, $15 per family. The troop is trying to raise funds this year to replace or refurbish several old tents.
Flu shots
A flu vaccine clinic will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m at the Gray New Gloucester Middle School band room for all people 9 and older. Parental consent is needed for children under 18. For more information, call1-800-747-4358.
Dogs in Gray
The town of Gray will sponsor a Rabies & Dog Licensing Clinic on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Gray Fire-Rescue Building at 125 Shaker Road from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The rabies vaccination cost is $10. Vaccinations are available for dogs and cats.
Licensing fees for spayed or neutered dogs are $6, $11 for others. All dogs must be licensed by Dec. 31.
Portraits will also be offered by Tsukroff Photography for $10 (with $2 donated to Caring Community and $2 donated to the Animal Refuge League).

Come one, come all
The First Congregational Church annual Holly Fair which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Parish House (behind McDonald’s) in Gray.
Come shop for holiday gifts and crafts, jewelry, centerpieces, cutlery and the Supper Room Cookbook. You can bid on goods or services from the Promise Tree. Take home tasty fudge, baked goods or cookies.
Children can attend a movie, enjoy snacks, and shop in a room especially designed for them. For the early arrivals, donuts and coffee will be on sale. A delicious luncheon will be served.

Black Friday childcare
Use this shopping day to get a head start on your holiday shopping without worrying about the kids! Drop them off at Newbegin Gym for a fun-filled day of activities for school age children (grades K and up). The event runs Nov. 26 from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Sign up by Nov. 12; $30 all day, $15 for half day. For information, call 657-2323 or go to Recreation Department at www.graymaine.org.
Library closed
The Gray Public Library will be closed from Sunday, Nov. 21, to Monday, Nov. 29, for the reconfiguration of the library space and the Thanksgiving holiday. It will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Please contact them with any questions.

Get ready for the holidays
Fiddlehead Art & Science Center will offer several classes to help you get ready for the holidays. Hammered Holiday Ornament Creation, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 6:30 – 8 p.m, with instructor Laura Friedman. Cost is $15. Learn how to make your own old fashioned ornament made out of copper (silver will be available at an additional charge).
Wreath Decorating will be available at the Holiday Artisan Fair, Saturday, Nov. 27, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The center at 25 Shaker Road in Gray will also offer Ornament Painting with your kids and Parent Night Out in December!
