Windham is in the process of updating its land use ordinance, and two public meetings will be held next week to discuss the proposed revisions.

The community meetings will be held Monday, July 20, and Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at the Windham Town Hall Council Chambers. Both meetings will be televised on Channel 7.

On June 23, the Windham Town Council authorized the Ordinance Update Committee to commence a public process for review and adoption of proposed revisions to the land use ordinance. Highlights of the proposed amendments include reformatting and reorganization of the existing documents, revised procedures for the review of development applications, and updated standards for the construction of public and private roads. The public process will include several community meetings prior to a formal public hearing process with the Planning Board and Town Council.

Copies of the proposed updates to the land use ordinance may be downloaded from the town’s Web site, www.windhamweb.com, viewed at the Planning/Codes/Assessing Office, the Clerk’s Office, or at the Windham Public Library, or purchased from the Planning Department for $10 (plus postage).
