VTEC recently won the Gray Recreation Department’s 4 on 4 basketball league championship with a 93-87 win over the Legends. It was the second straight championship for VTEC.
In the title game, the Legends jumped out to a double-digit lead only to see the champs battle back and only trail by four at the half.
As many championship teams do, VTEC defense put the clamps on the Legends long range shooting. VTEC actually matched the Legends with 10 3-pointers in the game.
With 54 seconds left, and VTEC leading by one, the Legends missed a driving layup and VTEC in turn came down and hit a game-breaking 3 to seal the victory.
Brian Wohl led the champs with 31, including six 3s, the last one a dagger that sealed the game. Matt Clement added 19. The Legends were led by CJ Vose’s game-high 40 and Travis Seaver had 17. Rounding out the members of VTEC are Scott Sanfino, Greg Morton, Pete Serafin, Caleb Sayward and Derek Lovely.
