A Standish man has been charged with domestic assault after a fight that left a woman with cuts and bruises, and him with knife wounds to his arms and legs.

Christopher Cook, 33, of 3 Crestwood Drive, was charged following an investigation that started when Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to his house just after 8 p.m. on May 10. Deputies found Tanya Ennis, 29, with several cuts and bruises to her head and body, and Cook with stab wounds. Cook was taken to Maine Medical Center, while Ennis was treated at the scene.

“It was a domestic dispute. The male party had assaulted and threatened the female party, Ms. Ennis. She used self-defense to prevent herself from being injured any further,” said Capt. Shawn O’Leary.

Cook is charged with domestic assault and domestic criminal threatening, both Class C crimes. He was arrested Tuesday on a Superior Court warrant after being released from Maine Medical Center. Cook was taken to Cumberland County Jail, where he is being held on $20,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned this week if he is not bailed before then, O’Leary said.

Charges will not be filed against Ennis, O’Leary said.
